Rebecca Slotkin and Dave Oster both braved the weather this past weekend to go to the New York Armory for the National Scholastic Indoor Championship.
Slotkin, who competes in the pole vault, cleared 11 feet, matching her personal record to finish in the top five of the first flight in the preliminary round. The VHS senior was 22nd overall out of about 60 athletes. Oster, also a senior, had said before the race that he intended to use it as a training run for spring track, rather than push his results. He finished in 11th place with a time of 9:34. He’ll be looking to get that much lower in the spring.
While we wait for Spring to spring, you can watch clips from both their events here.
