Three students from Verona High School performed as part of the New Jersey All-State Band and Chorus at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on February 20th. In the concert, Anthony Streifer played the tuba in the All-State Wind Ensemble, Julie Boyle played the mallets in the All-State Symphonic Band, and Rebecca Conaway sang alto in the All-State Women’s Chorus.

Admission to the All-State Band and Chorus is highly selective. Students first have to successfully audition for the North Jersey School Music Association‘s Region Band/Chorus, and are then allowed to audition with students from all over New Jersey for the All-State Band and Chorus. The extensive audition process requires that they perform scales, prepare pieces and sight-read. The All-State Band and Chorus is overseen by the New Jersey Music Educators Association.
