MyVeronaNJ-ObituaryThere’s a new category on our Navigation bar called Obituaries. Clicking on that bar will bring you to the details provided to us by local funeral parlors of the passing of former and present residents. We hope this feature will help bring our community together to support one another during times of loss.

One recent obituary is that of Eleanor J. McGinley, who passed away on Friday in her Verona home at the age of 79. Many of us know her sons, Verona residents Dan and Tom and their families. Visiting is at the Prout Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and this evening from 7 to 9.

A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10 a.m.

Born in Newark, Mrs. McGinley moved to Verona 34 years ago. She was a legal secretary for Lynch, Booth, Kenny, Scanlon and Dougherty in Newark from 1954 to 1980.

Mrs. McGinley is the wife of the late Joseph D. McGinley, the mother of Daniel J. McGinley and his wife Donna; Thomas B. McGinley and his wife Jennifer and Peggy McGinley. She is the sister of Rita Schaefer, the late Albert (Bill) Brenner and the grandmother of Megan, Kathleen, Sean, Cara and Maeve.

Memorial donations to the Verona Rescue Squad or St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
