Are you a card shark? A wrestling fan? If you’re 21 or older you can combine the two at a Poker Showdown Fundraiser to benefit Verona Junior Wrestling.
The group, which provides wrestling instruction for kids in first through eighth grades, is holding its poker benefit on Saturday, March 20, at the Russian Hall in Little Falls. Admission to the licensed event is $65.00, which includes chips, buffet dinner, dessert, beer and soft drinks. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Walk-ins will be accepted, but the organizers say they will turn away people once the event is at capacity.
To get your tickets, contact Dana Visentin by e-mail or by phone at (973) 650-3164. Or send a check made out to Verona Junior Wrestling to Rob Shabazian at 11 Witherspoon Road, Verona, NJ 07044. The group says all tickets will be held at the door.[mappress]
Congrats on getting “card shark” right in your poker night item.
Dictionaries indicate card shark refers primarily to an expert player, and cardsharp (usually one word) refers to a cheater at cards. The distinction is worth preserving, although ambiguity is always a potential problem with using either expression.
