Two Verona teams will participate in Essex County tournaments this weekend. The wrestling team, which just clinched at least a tie for a conference championship with its decisive win over Millburn this week, will start the pre-quarterfinals of the County tournament this evening at 6 p.m. in West Orange. Junior Colin Farawell has been picked as a top seed in the 189 pound weight class. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held tomorrow morning; the championship matches should begin about 3:30 p.m.

The girls basketball team faces off against Science Park High School in Newark at 1:30 as the 17th seed out of 26 teams. Science Park has the number one scorer in Essex County, Ezinne Kalu. If the Verona girls can stop Kalu, who has been averaging 28 points per game, they will face Shabazz High School, the number one team in the state.
