MyVeronaNJ-StormThe National Weather Service has issued a flash food watch for Essex County and surrounding areas of northern New Jersey as a result of heavy rainfall expected Monday.

The service says a strong storm moving through the Great Lakes tonight will pump a lot of moisture into our region, beginning tomorrow morning and tapering off by evening. The warning is in effect for Essex, Bergen, Union and Passaic counties, as well as parts of Connecticut, downstate New York, Staten Island and Long Island. Expect anywhere from one and a half to two and a half inches of rain.
