We got this e-mail from friends and needed to pass it along:

Hello friends and neighbors,

As many of you know, a few weeks ago our dear friend, neighbor, and long-time Verona community volunteer Carmela Vece was injured in an auto accident that has restricted her ability to work as well as simply get around.

This wonderful community is well known for helping our dear residents in their time of need, so we are asking for your help now to lift Carmela’s spirits and ease her financial burdens.  We greatly appreciate the outpouring of support Carmela is receiving from the families and the kids whom she loves so much.  We have been touched by so many of “Carmela’s kids” asking what they can do to help and even offering to take money out of their own piggy banks.

There are many ways that families and kids can help.  We know this may be a difficult time for many people so please do whatever is comfortable for you and your family.

Join us at O’Neil’s on Monday, January 18 between 12:00 and 4:00. Make a contribution, or stay for lunch and O’Neil’s will make a donation for every meal served. Buy a “cookie for Carmela”. Make a card to let Carmela know how much she is loved and appreciated

If you can’t make it to O’Neil’s on Monday, donations can be left during the week in the mail slot at the home of Una Kistner (4 Laurel Court) or Randi Marlo (142 Sunset Avenue).

So many of us and our children have been blessed by Carmela and the love she truly feels for us.  We are certain that the support offered by all of her friends and neighbors, will give her strength and hope to get through this difficult time. Please call us if you have any questions at 973-445-7190. Also, please share this information with other friends in the community.

Just a few of the many friends of Carmela
