The Spotlight Players Parents Association–the same group that is putting on “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” this weekend–is recruiting acts for Verona’s annual Talent Night.
Talent Night will be held Saturday, January 23 at 7 p.m. in the Verona High School auditorium, and everyone, of course, should plan on being there. But if you live, work, or attend school in Verona (or perform with someone who does) and you’ve got a special talent, you’ve got to get an application in by January 18 to be there on stage. The SPPA says it wants singers, dancers, musicians, stand-up comedy, funny skits, serious monologues–even an animal act.
Acts must be no more than four minutes and easy to set up. The Spotlight Players Parents Association has microphones and a sound system to play CDs or cassette tapes if your act needs music, but you’ll need to make special arrangements for props or furniture. And if you want to shake off your stage fright, there is an optional run-through time on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
If you have a child in a Verona school, you’ll be getting an application form in their backpack soon. The application deadline is January 18 and only the first 30 applications received will be accepted. The application fee is $10 per act, which also entitles you to one complimentary guest ticket. If you have questions, e-mail the SPPA’s Jen McGinley.
