Fire broke out early this morning in a house at 40 Kenwood. The Verona Fire Department quickly brought the blaze under control, but the east side of the house shows signs of scorching, and department members report smoke and water damage inside.

The family was not home at the time, but one pet reportedly died in the blaze. Fire fighters were able to rescue two other pets, one of which was taken to an animal hospital.

We’ll let you know what the family needs to get through the holidays.[mappress]
