When Fair in the Square organizers decided to cancel this year’s event this morning because of weather reports predicting a mix of rain and snow, we were a little flummoxed. For one thing, we’d planned a splashy debut for MyVeronaNJ at the fair. Plus, where would be get our cookies, hot chocolate and holiday cheer?
Well, imagine how you’d feel if you’d been cooking for days, like Anthony Tortoriello of FrankAnthony’s (in between preparing for his new store opening at 667 Bloomfield in two short weeks.) Tortoriello responded to the dilemma by setting up this food table in the parking lot outside his new store and giving away the food he made to sell at the event. We plan to visit him again when he opens.
That’s pretty disappointing if they decided to cancel and not reschedule. I feel for all of the local merchants & organizations that were planning to participate.
Very disappointed with the fair organizers. A little bit of snow would have just made the event more festive!
Given the extensive planning that I know is done for this event, it is surprising to me that there was no provision for a raindate. Today was cold, clear and sunny – it would have been the perfect day for a Fair in the Square!
