Historic Toys And Games Day

Put aside the GameBoys and Xboxes next Sunday, July 25. The Montclair Historical Society is holding a day devoted to the games and toys of the 18th and 19th centuries on the back lawn of the Israel Crane House. Games, which will be held from noon to 2 p.m. include wooden hoops, bean bags, corncob dart contests, racing hoops, Jacob’s ladders, and more. You might also get to see Verona resident (and MHS volunteer) Jane Eliasof in full period dress.

While there, you can also take a tour of the Israel Crane and Nathaniel Crane Houses. Tours offered at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.. There’s no charge for the games, but the admission fee for house tours is $5 for adults and $3 for children. For more information, you can e-mail the MHS.
